Treasure Aisles, indeed

August 12, 2010

It seems like margaritas are a recurring theme for me.  Oh well, they are delicious (and remember I am NOT talking about pre-made margarita mix crap).

Anyhoo, thought I’d do some bargain shopping at the antique stores on Big Bend just north of Manchester – was inspired by a pretty little cabinet that my friend HC had nabbed there a year ago.  I did find the bookshelf I was looking for.  Good lines, perfect for refinishing, and – as a bonus – it came  with a nest of little spiders on the bottom, yay!  Whatever, it was $52 and exactly what I wanted.

Oh, but I didn’t just come out of there with a book shelf.  Some extra goodies attached themselves to me.  (1) A pristine Saltines tin (my parents have always used one to store crackers, and now I have one of my own), and (2) FABULOUS margarita glasses.  They will be with me for the rest of my life.  Behold.

$6.  Six whole dollars.  Worth it.  Although these antique places are replete with plenty of junk, there are a few gems (and I definitely saw a better array at Treasure Aisles over Big Bend Antique Gallery).  And remember, if the price doesn’t say firm, go get your negotiation on.

WordPress suggested a link to your blog, maybe given the Saint Louis connection. Then I noticed this picture, and your windowsill. Which reminded me a lot of my windowsill… Do you live in the Residences by any chance?? I just moved out (literally two weeks ago), but definitely miss my old apartment.

Well hello Charles! No, that’s not my apt building – but I’m not far off. Funny about the WordPress suggestion since we have choice of profession as well our foodie predilections in common. Compliments to your blog! Mine is still in its nascent stages.
