Hello my name is LB, and I hoard reward points.

June 24, 2010

A couple posts back I said I would eventually share my love for St. Louis Originals, and I will do so now.  St. Louis Originals is a rewards program – a free rewards program.  At any of the St. Louis Originals member vendors (Square One, Vin de Set, Shaved Duck, Rooster, Schlafly, LaRusso’s, Trattoria Marcella – to name some), you simply request a membership card, you fill out the registration information, and you’re good to go.

Why would you particpate in this program?  Why would you try to remember one more thing for what is surely a paltry prize?  Paltry prize it is not because for every dollar you spend you receive a point on your card, and for every 150 points you receive a $10 reward on your card to spend as you please at any of the member restaurants.  Every time you pay the bill at a member restaurant, they’ll swipe you’re Originals card and add points.  Not bad at all.  Come on people, it’s found money.

Now, you can only apply rewards money on up to half of your bill for the evening.  However, halving an $80 bill at Vin de Set by using $40 of rewards money is still halving an $80 bill.

PS  You can also use your card in other member cities.  Sadly the likes of Chicago or DC are absent from the list, but if you find yourself in Kansas City or Dallas or Portland, knock yourself out.
